This Saturday, March 13, 2010, the Landsharks will  host their 2nd home game at 5:00 PM at the Barrientes Middle School Stadium $1 of each ticket sold will be donated to the Boys &  Girls Club of Edinburg. We would like to invite our community to come support the Landsharks! It is for a great cause; Boys & Girls Club of Edinburg!!!!!!

The Sharks drove up to San Antonio to face the (1-0) Texas Mavericks at beautiful Heroes Stadium. The Sharks took control of the game late in the 1st qt. & took a 13-0 lead into the half. Sharks put up additional scores & had the game wrapped up with a 27-0 lead mid 4th qtr. Mavericks managed to squick in a late TD score within last 3mins. to make it a 27-6 final score. Landsharks now improve to (2-0) on the season & take sole possession of 1st place in the Southern Conference: Valley Division.

Sharks started off the game with 2 quick scores when LB Chris Garza intercepted Outlaws QB and returned it for a Touchdown in the 3rd play of the games opening drive. Sharks kicked off to Brownsville and Garza came up big again recovering a fumbled kickoff return by the Outlaws returner. Sharks QB found rookie WR Felix Carrillo in the endzone to give the Sharks a 14-0. The remainder of the game slowed down and multiple passes were dropped including 4 potential TDs. The Sharks went scoreless in the 2nd qtr. In the 2nd half RB Ismael Sepulveda scampered for a 4 yard TD run mid 3rd qtr. In the 4th qtr. RB Robert Guevara broke loose following some great blocking for a TD to secure the victory.

This game will help benefit the Ronald Mcdonald House. Each ticket is $6.00 with $1.00 of each ticket going towards the Mcdonald House and a child will get in free with each purchase of an adult ticket.

The 2010 Season is upon us & this Saturday will mark the launching of the newly formed league M.P.F.L. & the new look Sharks. We will host the Brownsville Outlaws who are coming off a 8-4 record & 2nd round appearance in the playoffs this past season. We encourage all fans to come out and support & witness some hard hittin’ football this Saturday evening.

News was released on the MPFL website that the San Benito Desperados franchise has officially folded and would not conduct play in 2010. Taking over for San Benito will be the Texas Mavericks of San Antonio, due to there previous league, the NMLF suspending play to all there teams for the 2010 season.

The Mavericks are not a new team and bring playoff game experience. We welcome the Mavs to the Valley Division and look foward to playing them in Week 2 at San Antonio, Tx. at there beautiful 11,000 seat, turf field – Comalander Stadium, where they average over 1,000 fans a game.

The Landsharks will be facing the Mcallen Nightmare on Feb.20th. for Cancer Awareness charity game. This game will benefit Dee Dee Trevino who is currenlty fighting cancer. 100% of the proceeds collected will go directly to her to help with costly medical and travel bills.
